Report: | Was a nice fast float on scenic branch of the DuPage, my first time here. No blockages or portages needed. River was not at highest point following heavy spring rains, but still elevated and fun. A few minor rapids and riffles throughout. Very muddy banks to get in and out of. Saw an owl, muskrat and lots of other birds, including baby geese with parents. West Chicago sewage treatment plant appeared to be making a large discharge into the river near Roosevelt Rd (maybe overflow?). Using Lyft as a shuttle to get back to car (leaving kayak locked at takeout) makes these one person trips more feasible. A doll hanging off of a log jam was a nice photo.Drove to Two Brothers for beer and lunch after loading. |
