Report: | The Kishwaukee was two feet above flood stage by the time we launched; they later closed the river. This was after about 7 inches in rain in the area over 2-3 days. The water was obviously very fast, which made it challenging to deal with multiple strainers. Just had to slow down before entering, and take a good look. Surprisingly there were no total blockages that had to be portaged; everything could be run from the seat. The floodwaters made it easier to get around downfall, but a couple of times one had to make sure we were still in the main channel. The last couple of miles were a bit slower with a headwind, but the Piscasaw Creek came tumbling in fast and added to the flow. |
