| Report: | 2022 Fox River Clean-up was sponsored by the Conservation Foundation and other partners including Oswego Park District. PSC brought 6 paddlers to a larger group that included about 30 individuals collecting trash on the shore. Another 5 citizens worked the river in kayaks and canoe. Put-in was Violet Patch Park off Rte 25, a mile down from Rte. 30 bridge. Shuttle was organized among the paddlers on site. After car-shift and an introductory talk by the Conservation Foundation trustee and organizers, put-in was around 9:30.
Coffee and muffins were provided by Village Grind coffee shop of Oswego, and the Conservation Foundation supplied garbage bags, grabbers, gloves, and water. Trash and some larger items such as tires and mattresses were left at a few garbage can locations along the bike trail, to be picked up by park district. Most of the trash was brought to the celebratory pile at Hudson Crossing take-out. Paddlers were off the river by noon on this hot day. Montgomery gauge showed water stage 11.12 ft height and flow at 502 cfs. Which was pretty low with heavily-laden boats. One eagle sighted, with quite of few snowy egrets exploiting the low water. |
